Burberry Gives Its Marina Bay Sands Store in Singapore a Luxury Revamp

Burberry reopens its store in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore

British fashion brand Burberry has refreshed and reopened its Marina Bay Sands store, and the result is an artsy affair.

The two-storey space is now furnished with wooden tables in nebulous, organic shapes, sculpted by American artist Casey McCafferty. There are also hand-tufted rugs scattered around the store—including one that lines the stairs and covers the walls leading up the second floor—that create an outdoorsy, forest-like atmosphere.

The rugs are created by British textile artist Tom Atton Moore, whose fuzzy, fringed works also adorn Burberry’s stores in London and Hong Kong, as well as the brand’s showroom in Paris. They have been specially dyed in Burberry’s signature knight blue—a colour that also appears across the store’s chubby, check-covered armchairs.

The new store design emphasises craft, textures and nature-inspired touches, which reflects Burberry’s new-ish creative direction by fashion designer Daniel Lee. Lee’s designs are right at home in the store, which offers womenswear on the first floor, and menswear on the second.

Shoppers will find Buberry’s Autumn 2024 collection, which includes pieces in Burberry’s check, now cut on the bias as Lee’s way of updating the iconic pattern. Many of the British fashion brand’s archival motifs abound, like the thistle wreath that is embroidered onto a sweater, or the rose that appears on a pair of quilted mules. The most prominent symbol is the Equestrian Knight Design, which is gloriously emblazoned across T-shirts, denim pieces, knitwear and outerwear. Burberry’s knight and horse are even embossed onto the soles of shoes.

Lee’s Burberry is especially inspired by the English countryside and the great outdoors, which is where the functionality of Burberry pieces shine. That explains all the motifs referencing flora and fauna, but there are also playful nods to the city: the print of one silk dress offers a bird’s eye view of the top of a London double-decker bus, while another silk shirt features a pattern made from a red postbox and an envelope.

Burberry Launches Exclusive Bags In Singapore

Aside from the Autumn 2024 collection, Burberry’s Marina Bay Sands spacious store offers an array of other products, including the British brand’s fragrances, shoes, scarves, jewellery, and of course, trench coats. There is also the newly launched Burberry Classics collection, which comprises everyday pieces in Burberry’s bias check.

More importantly, there are bags. Lining the shelves are variations of Burberry’s Shield messenger bag, the Knight shoulder bag, and the Rocking Horse bag, which now comes in a Small size—hitting that sweet spot between the previously offered Mini and Medium sizes.

If you’re looking for exclusive pieces, check out the Rocking Horse bag in white grained leather. Or better yet, see the Rocking Horse Tote bag, as modelled by brand ambassador and Thai actor Bright Vachirawit in his Burberry campaign. Burberry’s Marina Bay Sands store is the first one in Southeast Asia to offer the bag, which comes in grained leather and suede versions, and is available in medium and large sizes.

Between its tasteful interiors and delightful fashion offerings, there is much to explore in Burberry’s refurbished store. It’s definitely worth a visit before the brand unveils even more exciting updates to its retail locations in Singapore.

Burberry (#B1-103 and #B2-78) is located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Watch the video below for a peek inside the refreshed Burberry Marina Bay Sands store.
