Loro Piana’s Into The Wild capsule collection for Fall Winter 2024 debuts a collaboration with ROA, and demonstrates how the epitome of luxury is meant to be experienced en plein air — fully at the heed of nature’s beck and call.
For those who seek a kind of grander purpose that lies beyond the glistening skyscrapers of a city, nature and its grand, sublime landscapes are often an answer that embodies luxury in its freedom and true, physical expanse. For fall/winter 2024, Loro Piana leans into these healing, larger-than-life qualities of the great outdoors to create Into The Wild, a capsule collection which caters to the technical performance and innovation needed for adventure gear — made for both urbanites and nature-lovers, complete with a collaboration with hiking shoe brand ROA.
From bomber jackets, hooded parkas, to anoraks and an assembly of rainproof garments, Into The Wild accounts for the layering common to outdoor-wear in its collection, while also being versatile enough to look at home in a more urban environment. This versatility is, for the most part, granted by the element of modularity that Loro Piana has imbued the capsule with, translating into layered looks that can be peeled off or added onto as the occasion requires. This element of modularity is further emphasised through the collection’s easy-to-match, mainly neutral colour palette: pastoral notes of Rosemary Green, Ancient Sage and Brown Antelope are fused with flourishes of Sand and Nougat, and punctuated with touches of Black, Jasper Coral Orange, and Periwinkle.
Loro Piana has always been synonymous with innovation — especially in the area of fabric-working — so it should come as no surprise that Into The Wild is another display of the maison’s fabric-working savoir faire. The collection is made from a myriad mix of technical fabrics and Loro Piana’s signature precious silks and cashmeres, and treated with special finishes to protect against the wind, cold and rain. Amongst the high-performing, outdoors-oriented materials the collection features, the highlight is — by far — the Graphene: Loro Piana’s latest fabric-based technical innovation that distributes body heat evenly for greater comfort. As always, Cashfur and Coarsehair — the maison’s signature innovations — make an appearance as well, giving a rugged, rain-resistant softness to knitwear.
Footwear-wise, the outdoors theme of the collection meant that a collaboration with hiking shoe specialists ROA was a natural fit. Into The Wild sees Loro Piana’s interpretation of ROA’s classic Katharina and Andreas gender-neutral hiking boots, blending technical expertise from both brands in a harmonious union of pragmatic functionality and refined comfort, finished in an organic-toned palette that matches the rest of the collection.
As part of the collection’s release in Asia, the maison raised the curtains on its camping-themed pop-up store in ION Orchard yesterday to much fanfare. Hong Kong celebrities Hins Cheung and Jeffrey Ngai graced the celebrations, accompanied by local star Chen Yi Xin and fashion tastemaker Mae Tan. The pop-up store will be open from 10am to 10pm daily until 30 June, and the collection will also be available online.
