Another one of His Airness’s cars is up for grabs. And this one might be the best yet.

A 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition once owned by Michael Jordan is currently being sold by Miami-based exotic car dealership, TBTFW. The vehicle’s provenance may be its main appeal, but it also happens to be one of the rarest versions of one of the century’s finest performance cars.

Mercedes and McLaren may be F1 rivals today, but they used to be partners back in the day. From 1995 until 2014 the German and British automakers chased track glory together. The partnership was so strong that the two companies teamed up on a road car based on the legendary 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe. The resulting SLR McLaren, which debuted in 2003, combined sophisticated design with luxury comfort and top-level performance—and helped redefine what a supercar was in the process.

Several SLR McLaren variants were released during the seven years the model was in production, of which the limited-edition 722, which is what Jordan owned, is considered among the most desirable. Named after the 300 SLR that Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson drove to victory at the 1955 Mille Miglia (which was called the “722” due to its morning start time), the car featured a modified engine, an upgraded suspension, revised aero elements, and bigger wheels. The headline feature was the reworked supercharged 5.4-liter V-8, which pumps out 641 horses and 606 ft lbs of twist, a noticeable jump from the 617 hp and 575 ft lbs of torque produced by the standard mill. Only 150 examples would be built.

Jordan’s SLR McLaren is finished in Crystal Antimon Grey Metallic, a gorgeous hue that accentuates the vehicle’s more striking lines and rides on a set of brushed Ankry wheels that offer a peek at the red brake calipers. The interior, meanwhile, is covered in black leather and Alcantara with red contrast stitching, an appropriate combo for Jordan, who spent the most successful years of his career winning six NBA titles with the Chicago Bulls.

Excited about the prospect of driving a car once owned by Air Jordan himself? TBTFW is asking $649,995 for the two-door. That’s significantly more than the $480,000 the car cost brand new, but, as CarScoops points out, around what the car has gone for at auction in recent years.
