The Ritz-Carlton has a new floating hotel on the horizon.
The American hospitality titan is launching a third luxury cruise liner called Luminara in the summer of 2025. The Ritz-Carlton fleet already includes 623-foot Evrima and 790-foot Ilma, which were launched in 2022 and 2023, respectively. Spanning 794 feet, the newest fleet member is bigger and better than its predecessors.
“With Luminara, we are not just adding another superyacht to our fleet; we are expanding the horizons of ultra-luxury travel,” Jim Murren, the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection executive chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
Derived from the Latin word for “light,” Luminara features a bright and airy interior that can accommodate up to 452 guests. Much like a ritzy, five-star hotel, the liner includes 226 spacious suites with private ocean-view terraces. As with Ilma, Luminara also has a collection of larger suites for seafarers requiring extra space. The top-tier Residential Suite, for instance, can comfortably accommodate a family and function as a home away from home.
Conceived by Chapi Chapo Design, AD Associates, and DPA, the interiors are inspired by “light and luminescence.” The neutral color palette is contrasted by pops of red, navy, and green, while rich oak plays against supple leather and Calcutta marble. Luminara offers plenty of space for relaxing or socializing. Guests can also expect world-class dining, an extensive wine collection, a signature Ritz-Carlton Spa, and a marina that provides direct access to the sea.
It sounds as if Luminara will stand out on the high seas, too. Penned by Aivan, the exterior of Luminara is described as “sleek and graceful.” It takes design cues from sleek private superyachts but is obviously much larger than the average 100-footer.
Luminara’s maiden voyage is scheduled for July 2025. The inaugural jaunt is a seven-night trip around Rome that includes truffle hunting in Tuscany, kayaking along the Ligurian coast, and a climb up the Tower of Pisa. The yacht will then embark on eight voyages throughout the summer season. Itineraries include roundtrips to Rome, Barcelona, Athens, Venice, and Reykjavík, as well as voyages around Sweden and Portugal.
“Luminara is an invitation to embark on remarkable journeys and discover the world’s most captivating destinations with unparalleled amenities and service,” adds Murren.
Reservations are now open for all three superyachts. You can contact the Ritz-Carlton for more information.
