Maserati’s latest one-off was inspired by one of Italy’s finest wines.

The automaker’s customization division, Fuoriserie, has just unveiled a new one-off GranCabrio Folgore. The gorgeous all-electric convertible was built for winemaker Marchesi Antinori and is meant to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its red wine, Tignanello.

Tignanello is one of the most influential red wines in recent memory. It is the first Sangiovese aged in barrique, as well as the first contemporary red blended with untraditional grape varieties, specifically Cabernet. It’s one of Marchesi Antinori’s most important wines and fully representative of the Antinori family motto, “Te Duce Proficio,” or, in English, “Following your guide I flourish.” Tignanello actually turned 50 in 2021, but the vintage has only now made it to market.

Marchesi Antinori worked with Fuoriserie to design this unique GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello. The EV’s sleek body is finished in Terra di Tignanello, a chestnut-like metallic color inspired by the vineyard’s soil. The bespoke hue is offset by copper badging, black alloy wheels, and a black soft top. Inside the open-top speed machine’s cabin are a quartet of leather leather seats with inserts that feature a multi-material silver and burgundy ribbed weave that recalls the rows of vines on the Tignanello hill. The cabin also features dark briar wood trim and door panels and headrests embroidered with a design that combines the Maserati trident with the sun from the Tignanello bottle label. That symbol, along with the dates 1971 to 2021, are lasered onto the central console.

The EV’s powertrain has been left untouched, but it’s hard to imagine anyone will mind since it’s the fastest battery-powered convertible in the world. The tri-motor powertrain produces a combined 818 hp and 996 ft lbs of torque. The convertible can rocket from zero to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, has a top speed of 180 mph, and a range of 233 miles.

There may only be one example of the GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello but you’ll actually get a chance to buy it. The convertible will go up for bid at the Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala on Sunday, July 14. No estimate has been provided, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the EV sell for more than its standard $206,995 starting price. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to charity.
