This One-of-a-Kind Rolls-Royce Phantom Pays Homage to the Vineyards of the Italian Riviera

Rolls-Royces may be built in the U.K., but the inspiration for at least one example goes back to Italy.

The British marque has unveiled a new bespoke build called the Phantom “Inspired Cinque Terre.” The dazzling saloon features visual details meant to celebrate the natural beauty of the Italian Riviera and its winemaking tradition.

The Cinque Terre—which is Italian for “five lands”—refers to the fishing villages of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Each member of the quintet is known for the terraced vineyards in its hills, which are referenced throughout the bespoke Phantom’s design. The sedan is finished in a rich coat of Ligurian blue accented with Navy Blue and Jasmine coachlines. If that weren’t enough, the vehicle’s flanks are adorned with motifs that depict a bunch of grapes.

The nods to the region continue inside the four-door’s cabin. The interior is done up in Grace White and Navy Blue leather with Jasmine trim. The rear doors each feature an embroidered bunch of grapes, which required 9,215 stitches each. The true highlight, though, is the starlight headliner which features an embroidered map of Italy made up of 14,338 individual stitches. There is also individual hand-painted artwork on elements like the dashboard and glove box that are inspired by the specific towns.

The saloon’s mechanical hardware appears to have been left untouched, but it’s still impressive. Although no specs were provided, the standard Phantom—if a standard Rolls-Royce can be said to exist—is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.7-liter V-12 that generates 563 hp and 664 ft lbs of torque. Thanks to all that might, the commanding vehicle can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. It’s also equipped with a self-leveling air suspension that helps deliver the marque’s trademark “magic carpet ride.”

Rolls-Royce did not reveal how much the Phantom “Inspired Cinque Terre” costs, but it’s fair to assume the new owner paid well over the $475,000 starting price. It’s probably the brand’s most expensive bespoke build for 2023, though. That title would seem to belong to the La Rose Noire Droptail which is rumored to have cost more than $30 million.
