Toyota Just Unveiled Its Last A90 Supra

Toyota is making sure the fifth-generation Supra gets the sendoff it deserves.

The Japanese auto giant has just announced one final track-focused special version of the A90 called, appropriately enough, the “Final Edition.” The sports car comes with more power and a host of other upgrades that combine to give it a significant performance bump.

The big story here is the upgrades under the hood. The Final Edition is equipped with the same BMW-sourced B58 turbocharged inline-six found in other GR Supras, as well as its German cousin, the Z4. But this version of the 3.0-liter mill is significantly more powerful than others, producing 429 horses and 420 ft lbs of twist. Those are increases of 47 hp and 51 ft lbs of torque, respectively. If all that wasn’t enough, the model is available exclusively with a six-speed manual that sends power to the rear axle. The Final Edition is a Supra for the purists.

That’s not it for the mechanical upgrades, though. The car features an Akrapovič titanium exhaust that will emit an even louder engine crackle than before. There’s also an adjustable KW suspension just like the one found on the GR Supra GT4 race car. Finally, there are bigger Brembo brake rotors up front to help you stop the vehicle once it gets going.

The Final Edition’s performance upgrades aren’t all hidden from view, either. The GR Supra’s already aerodynamic shape has been modified with a revised front fascia that includes a carbon-fiber front spoiler, canards, and a new hood duct, as well as a swan-neck rear wing made of the same material. The vehicle also rides on a staggered set of wheels—19 inches up front, and 20 inches in the back. The rear set is wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Series tires that are 10 percent wider than before. Inside, you’ll find carbon-fiber Recaro racing seats, Alcantara upholstery, and bold red accents.

There’s only one glaring issue we have GR Supra Final Edition. It’s not been announced for the U.S. yet. Toyota’s announcement says that only 300 examples will be built and they’re currently only destined for two markets: Japan and Europe. Let’s hope that changes or that the automaker has another goodbye variant in the works for the states.
