Two Bugatti Chirons Crashed Into Each Other at a Rally in Morocco

Always be aware of your surroundings, especially when you’re behind the wheel of a seven-figure supercar.

This is something that two Bugatti Chiron owners were reminded of when they crashed right into one another during a rally in Morocco, according to Road & Track. Both drivers appear to be fine, but it’s unlikely there will be a more expensive automobile accident anywhere else in the world this year.

The unlucky Chiron drivers were participating in the Bugatti-organized Morocco Grand Tour rally when the crash occurred. It’s unclear what day the accident occurred—CEO Mate Rimac’s Instagram posts suggest the event is still ongoing—but footage surfaced online earlier this week and has been doing the rounds among enthusiasts ever since.

The clip, which was shared to Youtube by a user named The Unlucky Photographer, shows a trio of Chirons (none of which are pictured above) trying to navigate their way through slow traffic on a two-lane road in the North African country. The supercars find themselves stuck behind a slow-moving truck when the second of the three, a silver Super Sport, decides to pass it on the left. Unfortunately, it finds itself in the blind spot of the first Chiron, a black and white Pur Sport, when it decides to do the same.

Needless to say, what follows is messy. The Pur Sport bashes into the ride side of the Super Sport as it’s trying to pass, causing it to swerve right into the truck. The resulting collision sends both vehicles off-road, with the silver Super Sport facing the wrong way on the left side of the highway and the innocent truck in a ditch on the other side.

The Pur Sport appears to have escaped the incident with relatively minor damage. But the same can’t be said for the Super Sport and truck, according to local outlet Tanjaoui. The former suffered a badly mangled front end and was unable to drive away from the accident, while the latter ended up on its side, the contents of its bed spilled around it.

There’s no word on what the repair bills will be for the Chirons, but they figure to be steep. The Super Sport had a starting price of $3.825 million, while the Pur Sport had a base price of $3.6 million.
