Shipyard Supply Co. is acing the amenity game.
The U.K. outfit, which produces a wide range of high-quality deck equipment, has created a new Padel Court specifically for superyachts. The pioneering design was developed at the request of a seafarer with a luxurious 360-footer currently in build but can also be customized by other yachters.
“We believe that being on water shouldn’t restrict the choice of sports available, and we always strive to be one step ahead of the game,” SSCo. CEO Josh Richardson said in a statement. “Having extensively designed, engineered, and tested this system we are confident in offering it to all superyachts.”
In contrast to traditional courts, SSCo.’s free-standing structure doesn’t require fitted deck sockets and poles. As such, the court is suitable for vessels that cannot accommodate additional fittings. Furthermore, the modular design can adapt to many different yacht layouts. It can be erected on the bow or helideck, for example.
The court features a sleek carbon frame and a mix of Plexiglass and mesh panels. As a result, the structure is strong and durable yet also lightweight. It is easy to assemble and pack down, according to SSCo. The flat panels also make storing the court a dream.
“Our Padel Court features custom-designed elements tailored to the unique challenges of maritime environments,” adds SSCo. technical manager Richard Clements. “From specialized materials to innovative engineering solutions, every aspect of the court has been carefully crafted to ensure optimal functionality and durability.”
The court was, of course, designed to bring the exciting new sport of padel to the decks of superyachts. For the unversed, padel is a mix of tennis and squash that is rapidly growing in popularity worldwide. The court can also be used for sports such as squash or racketball. You could even partake in pickleball if you fancy.
“Our Padel Court redefines onboard entertainment, providing an experience that is unmatched in the industry,” Clements concludes.
The best part is the structure can be customized to individual requirements to ensure it fits any yacht perfectly. The Padel Court will set you back approximately $254,000 (£200,000) but that figure will vary depending on the scale of the build.
